Welcome to the World of Artna

Gifting is my love language.

I have always been the gifter. In my family, in my friendships — I’m the person people ask. The one who organises Secret Santa every year. The one who buys her husband’s gifts to the children, her father’s gifts to the family, and somehow ends up finding something for everyone else too.

To me, this has never felt surprising. Because gifting, at its essence, is a quiet ritual of noticing someone. It’s choosing to pause and find something — often unexpected — that might make them feel seen and appreciated.

(I make my own cards now too, although we’ve recently started selling cards on Artna that I’d genuinely buy myself.)

The Story Before Artna

Gifting is one part of it. The other is curation.

Another constant throughout my life has been my love for style and fashion. (A love that reached a slightly absurd peak in Los Angeles a few years ago, when I received more than twenty outfit compliments in a single day.)

But if you truly love style, what you really love is curation. And eventually, curation extends beyond clothing and into everything else.

For me, it slowly found its way into home décor. And most memorably, into my wedding — where I brought my garden to life piece by piece, meticulously curating every object by hand. Guests later told me it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. I won’t pretend that didn’t make my heart feel impossibly full.

In many ways, Artna is simply these two things — gifting and curating — finally living together in one place.

I’d be lying if I said this came easily. Artna has been a slow build, filled with pauses, second-guesses, and far too many late-night “do I really know what I’m doing?” moments.

But I started anyway.

The Places That Shaped It

I grew up in Malta. Then I lived in Berlin for a while. Eventually, I moved to Portugal, where I now live on the edge of Arrábida National Park with two cats, six chickens, and a house full of boys.

Each place shaped me differently.

Malta gave me Mediterranean light and a lifelong love of warm, sun-filled days. Berlin gave me individualism — a confidence in personal style that exists entirely on its own terms. But I’ll be honest: over time, the darkness and grunge began to feel limiting for someone who loves colour, texture, warmth, and light. The moment I left, my wardrobe burst back into terracotta, olive green, white, and gold.

Berlin was ultimately too dark and too casual for a Mediterranean girl raised among limestone architecture, warm water, and sunlight reflecting off stone walls.

Portugal, though, is where Artna finally found a world to belong to. The slowness here, the artisans, the ceramics, the wild nature, the breathtaking beaches — all of it has felt like medicine for the soul after the intensity of Malta and Berlin.

What Artna Is

Artna is a curated home for one-of-a-kind pieces — home décor, jewellery, and gifts sourced from artisans and independent makers I genuinely love.

A gifting nest for people who move through life with a bolder lens.

Every piece I bring in is found slowly: in flea markets, hidden boutiques, quiet workshops, and the kinds of corners where unusual things still wait to be discovered. I don’t import in bulk. I source intentionally and only bring in pieces that truly earn their place.

Behind every Artna piece is an artisan who made it — small studios, independent makers, often working with techniques quietly passed down through generations. Supporting them is my way of helping keep that craftsmanship alive.

Because if nobody buys from the ceramicist anymore, eventually the ceramicist stops creating.

And the world becomes a little more grey.

What Artna Isn’t

This is not a place for the ordinary.

In a world of mass production and modern minimalism that has slowly drained colour and soul from both our homes and wardrobes, Artna is unapologetically the opposite.

It is a space for pieces filled with character. Pieces that feel as though they’ve already lived a small story before arriving in your hands.

To me, bold does not mean loud. It means intentional. It’s the confidence to choose pieces that feel like you — not the algorithm, not the trend cycle, not what everyone else is buying.

The woman Artna is for has a good eye. She notices small details — the imperfect glaze on a hand-thrown vase, the tiny marks that reveal the human hand behind an object.

Whether she’s searching for the perfect gift for someone she loves, or just as importantly, for herself, she wants the piece to feel discovered rather than simply purchased.

The Art of Thoughtful Gifting

A great gift feels thoughtful.

It feels as though the giver truly considered the receiver — what they love, how they spend their time, what makes them light up — and chose something with intention.

Artna was built around this belief. Every piece on the site is something I would be proud to give to someone I love.

Many of them, I already have.

Artna gathers what I believe in: curated jewellery, artisan home décor, greeting cards, and symbolic gifting pieces. Each collection is built around the same belief — that what we choose to keep, and what we choose to give, should feel personal, timeless, and quietly distinctive.

Welcome

Artna is a small love letter to gifting, curation, and the enduring beauty of the handmade.

It’s the place where my two greatest loves — gifting and curating — finally found each other.

And if any part of this resonates with you, I think you’re in the right place.

Welcome to the world of Artna.

Come find what you’d choose for yourself — and what you’d choose to give.

With love,
Tamara
